Science Foundation Ireland
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) promotes and supports the education in and engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), promoting an awareness and understanding of the value of STEM to society and in particular, to the growth of opportunities for people and the future development of the economy.
Science Foundation Ireland has a network of Discover Centres offering accredited workshops and outreach programmes for primary schools on a range of themes encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Space. The network of Centres supports schools in engaging with science education outside of the classroom in a curriculum relevant and inquiry based way. Schools can gain credit towards their Science Foundation Ireland Curious Minds Awards by visiting a Centre. Bricks 4 Kidz has now become a Science Foundation Ireland accredited Curious Minds Centre.
In evaluating programmes, Science Foundation Ireland has reviewed the Bricks 4 Kidz programme content to ensure that specific learning objectives are achieved within the Primary Science curriculum and has identified how it supports the development of science skills.
In becoming an accredited Discover Centre, Karl Fitzpatrick, Master Franchisee for Bricks 4 Kidz in Ireland stated “We are delighted to have been accredited as a Discover Centre by Science Foundation Ireland as this provides Bricks 4 Kidz with the highest level of endorsement for the educational merits of our LEGO® based STEM programmes.”
